Why do we call them Scallops?

A little biology to set the stage to explain what’s different about Blackhawk Imaging’s technology:

Scallops – a common name for many species of any one of numerous species of saltwater clams or marine bivalve mollusks in the Pectinidae family.

Scallops have up to 100 brilliant blue eyes arranged around the edges of each mantel. The eyes can detect changing patterns of light and motion.
